COBATI was a nominee of the CBC- African Business Awards 2008 in the category of leader in Social Innovation.
COBATI's Founder Maria Baryamujura was recognized among the “Ugandans Making a Difference” and received an award of recognition from the New vision for outstanding contribution to improving the lives of others for a better Uganda. The award was presented on 9TH June 2008, a day reserved for Heroes in Uganda.

From 1998, COBATI has led an awareness and advocacy drive on how local people can be integrated closer to mainstream tourism and use it to improve their livelihoods. Our idea is to offer travelers an enjoyable and educative rural experience as well as increased gains to local people.
Cobati is recognized for;
Exposing and educating local people on the potential of the natural and cultural resources surrounding them.
Working with local homesteads to establish a net work of hospitality related enterprises and attractions along popular cuicuits that usually have long stetches that are monotonous to tourists.
Promoting pro- poor tourism through development of innovative small homestead enterprises that can apt the productivity, employment and income at livelihood level in Uganda.
