COBATI's Founder Maria Baryamujura was recognized among the “Ugandans Making a Difference” and received an award of recognition from the New vision for outstanding contribution to improving the lives of others for a better Uganda. The award was presented on 9TH June 2008, a day reserved for Heroes in Uganda.

The COBATI sustainable tourism model is of interest to many people; Maria Baryamujura is often invited to share the COBATI experience at various forums.
In October 2007, Dr.Geoffrey Bakunda and Eddy Tukamushaba from Makerere University Business School (MUBS) Department of Leisure and Hospitality Management requested Maria Baryamujura to share the COBATI experience with Mr. Ande Jackson from Sheffield University of Hallam in the U.K. Sheffield University has a Center for International Tourism Research. Jackson was on a three month attachment to MUBS to share the community tourism experience of Uganda. A number of issues pertaining to community tourism development were discussed with particular focus on exchange programs and curriculum development for community tourism.
