COBATI was a nominee of the CBC- African Business Awards 2008 in the category of leader in Social Innovation.
COBATI's Founder Maria Baryamujura was recognized among the “Ugandans Making a Difference” and received an award of recognition from the New vision for outstanding contribution to improving the lives of others for a better Uganda. The award was presented on 9TH June 2008, a day reserved for Heroes in Uganda.

COBATI HAS IDENTIFIED THREE NEW HOMESTEADS

Upcoming COBATI homestead clusters 2008/9.

In a bid to increase the network of community tourism homesteads within the COBATI program, the following are the new clusters that have been identified and selected;

1.Biharwe Cluster is located along Kampala Mbarara highway and is approximately 14 km from Mbarara town. It is made up of 4 homesteads; among the attraction is Lake Mburo National Park and the local culture associated with Ankole long horned cow.

2. Kabwohe Cluster Kabwohe is located along the highway to Queen Elizabeth, Rwenzori, Semuliki and Kibaale Forest National Parks. The area is renown for "Matoke "(banana) farming and green environment. The homesteads in this cluster have good homes, Special attractions include village walks, local farming, homestead gardening, banana beer brewing, participating in community activities such as the millet ceremony, weddings, hill climbing, crop communal harvesting, traditional hunting, handcraft making and cooking lessons.

3. Kamwengye Cluster Kamwengye District in Western Uganda is well located to benefit from the tourism traffic to Kibaare and Queen Elizabeth National Parks, flow is renown for honey and fruit production, the cluster is a group of farming homesteads, they belong to a community association of beekeepers called KABECOS (Kamwengye Beekeepers Savings and Credit Co-operative) .
