The Buhoma village walk is the first community initiative in the Uganda’s eco-tourism zone. It starts and ends at the Buhoma rest camp, located at the entrance to BINP. It passes through a typical African village with typical rural homesteads. The sites on route are: Local women handcraft centre – where a 15 minute craft making demonstration is done, a water fall, tea plantation, a banana brewing demonstration site, local traditional medicine healer, local school, bird watching in a community woodlot, local gin (waragi) brewing site and a Batwa (pygmies) music and performing site. Guides brie the visitors before taking the walk that help them to opt for a long or short itinerary. It takes approximately three hours to visit all sites; however, visitors are free to choose sites of their interest and hence opting for shorter itinerary.
